The National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) is an accredited institution that adheres to rigorous standards, surpassing the criteria set by traditional academic-based certifying organizations, such as the Association of College Honor Societies. However, like many other honor societies, the NSLS is not a member of ACHS.
Despite this, the NSLS exceeds ACHS guidelines in a few ways, including:
- The NSLS is held to external standards of performance and impact in education through its accreditation with Cognia (formerly AdvancED). This recognition is more rigorous than any endorsement from ACHS, as it requires the NSLS to obtain certification from the US Department of Education.
- The NSLS meets the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to its purpose through certification as a For-Benefit Organization. ACHS membership does not require member honor societies to achieve these rigorous standards.
- The NSLS maintains university-established criteria that best serves to recognize a distinguished group of their students. Nationally, less than 20 percent of the campus population receive an invitation to join the NSLS, while ACHS honor society standards include 20-35 percent of campus populations.
When selecting an honor society, it's crucial to opt for an organization that offers unique learning opportunities beyond the confines of the classroom. Joining a traditional honor society that solely focuses on academic achievements may restrict a student's exposure to essential professional skills that are cultivated outside of academic settings.
The NSLS is committed to equipping student members with the in-demand skills necessary for success in today's dynamic society. By choosing to join the NSLS, you're making a proactive decision to take charge of your professional development journey. You'll graduate from your institution not only with academic prowess but also with leadership skills geared to propel you in your career.
