We are proud to announce the recipients of our Fall 2024 University of Phoenix Scholarships! We sincerely thank everyone who applied and encourage you to do so again when the next application window opens.
Established to honor NSLS members with a military affiliation, the $5,000 scholarship supports military families in pursuit of higher education. It was named for Major Fannie Griffin-McClendon, who served 26 years in the military.

Major Fannie Griffin-McClendon Scholarship Winner
Awarded to students enrolled in the College of Health Professions, the $5,000 scholarship supports NSLS members seeking degrees in healthcare. It was named for Dr. Richard Ansson, Jr., a longtime faculty of the University of Phoenix’s College of Health Professions who passed away in May 2020.

This $2,500 scholarship honors Dr. Jamie Bucklaw - Heiden. Jamie began work as the Clinical Director and Core Faculty member at the University of Phoenix in 2020. She was the director of the Counseling Skills Center at the Phoenix campus which offers free mental health services to the community. She trained students to be future counselors and make a lasting impact in their communities and organizations. Dr. Jamie, as the students called her, was an inspiration and motivator to do better, be better, and be good to one another. Her kind heart, beautiful smile, and determined spirit will continue to live in all the lives she touched, and beyond.
